A line dance is a formation dance in which a group of people dance in one or more lines (British English, "rows"), executing the same movements. Certain line dances may be considered variations of circle dances, where people are joined by hands in chain, e.g., the Dabke dance of the Middle East. In fact, most circle dances may be danced in a line formation, rather than in a circle; this is most common when only a small number of dancers are available.

One of the most popular styles of dance today, Country/Western dancing is danced socially as well as competitively. The standard dances are 2-Step, Polka, Waltz and Swing. There are many Line Dances as well. This is a fun style of dance and there is  much to learn.

Line dancing is normally done in a group. The dancers dance side by side doing the same steps.

Normally the dancers move around the floor facing different walls as they progress thru a series of steps. Great fun! There are many different line dances and more are coming every day. These free online dance lessons will teach you the basic steps in several dances, but lessons from a dance studio or use of an instructional video will make it easier and much more fun.
